HR/TALENT MANAGEMENT LEADERSHIP

ÎçÒ¹ÊÓƵ This Session

Many roles in trucking are paid using variable or performance-based compensation. Some organizations focus on productivity as the only metric of success, but well-rounded compensation plans ensure alignment with company culture and reinforce outcomes that support the company's mission, vision and values - not just the bottom-line financial results. Developing balanced incentive plans is not easy and requires finesse to negotiate between competing interests in the organization. It also requires an ability to understand competitive market pay levels and an understanding of the difference between a "bonus" for company profits, and a true pay-for-performance program that will change behavior as well as results. This session will put incentive compensation in the context of a well-rounded Total Rewards program and provide attendees with practical tools to develop their own pay-for-performance incentive program.

Attend this session to:

  • Learn the difference between company funded "bonus" program and pay-for-performance variable compensation.

  • Understand common KPIs used to measure performance and align behavior in office employees (load planners, driver managers, customer service reps, safety managers, etc.)

  • Hear common mistakes to avoid when developing variable incentive plans.
